Home Care Jobs at Hillendale — Now Hiring Caregivers

Hillendale hires for a range of caregiver jobs across the Bay Area, including companion caregivers, certified nursing assistants (CNAs), home health aides (HHAs), and 24-hour caregivers. Whether you're looking for a few shifts a week or full-time home care positions, we have caregiver positions that fit real life, not just a job posting.

A typical day might include helping a client with bathing, dressing, or mobility, preparing meals, providing medication reminders, accompanying clients to appointments, or simply being present for companionship and conversation. No two days look exactly the same, and that's part of what our caregivers say they value most about the work.

Caregiver Roles we regularly hire for:

*Searching for live-in care jobs? California doesn't use the traditional "live-in caregiver" model the way some other states do — state labor law requires caregivers to be paid for all hours worked, with scheduled breaks and rest periods. If that's what you're looking for, check out our 24-hour care model: caregivers work extended, structured shifts so clients still get around-the-clock support. Find 24-hour caregiving jobs here.

Competitive Pay and Flexible Scheduling

We offer competitive, weekly pay along with the kind of scheduling flexibility that's hard to find in this field. Our home care positions include 4, 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts, days and nights, weekdays and weekends — you share your availability, and we help you find jobs that fit your schedule. There's no minimum-hours commitment, whether you're picking up a couple of hourly home care shifts a week or working full-time.

Benefits vary by role and hours worked and may include:

  • Paid orientation and paid on-the-job training
  • Paid sick leave and paid company holidays when working a shift
  • Bonuses and rewards
  • Eligibility for healthcare benefits
  • Eligibility for 401(k) retirement planning
  • Ongoing support from our Staffing and Care Management teams

What You Need to Apply

We welcome both experienced caregivers and those newer to the field. If you don't have formal caregiving experience but have cared for a family member or simply have the right heart for this work, we still encourage you to apply. Requirements vary by role, but generally include:

  • Reliable transportation to get to a client's home (owning a car is not a requirement to be hired by Hillendale)
  • Ability to pass a Live Scan background check
  • Current TB test and fluency in English
  • Registration with the Home Care Services Bureau (we'll walk you through this if you're not already registered)
  • CNA or HHA certification for some roles
  • A genuine passion for caring for others

Beyond Caregiving Jobs

In addition to direct caregiving, Hillendale also hires for corporate and Care Team roles across HR, Finance, Operations, Business Development, and Staffing. If you're looking to support seniors and their families in a different way, click here.

Caregiver Job FAQs

Pay is competitive and varies by role, location, and experience. Each job posting lists the pay range for that specific position.

Not for every role. Some positions, like companion caregiving, don't require advanced certification, while others, like CNA-specific roles, do. We're happy to talk through which roles fit your background.

In many cases, yes. We offer part-time, full-time, overnight, weekend, and 24-hour shifts, and there's no minimum-hours commitment — we work with you to find caregiver jobs that fit your life.

You'll need reliable transportation to get to a client's home, but owning a car isn't required for every role. Some clients ask for a caregiver with a valid driver's license so they can be driven to appointments — we'll let you know if that applies to a specific position.

Prior experience is preferred but not always required. Several of our caregiver positions are open to entry-level candidates who are reliable and compassionate — if you've cared for a family member or simply have the right instincts for this work, we encourage you to apply.

Once your application, credentials, and background check clear, you can typically start picking up shifts right after orientation. The fastest way to get started is to apply today.

Standard steps include verifying your credentials, a background check, and required health screenings, including a current TB test. A recruiter will confirm the specifics for your role.

We hire for home care jobs across the Bay Area, including Walnut Creek, Oakland, Marin, Monterey, and Santa Rosa, and the surrounding communities near each of our offices — so if you're searching for a caregiver job near you, there's a good chance we're hiring in your area.
